Railway crossing repair in northwest will begin Tuesday

By Medicine Hat News on August 14, 2020.

Repairs to a railway road crossing in the city’s northwest will cause vehicle traffic to be detoured for two days next week.

The spur line that crosses Brier Park Road between Box Springs Road and Semrau Drive will be rebuilt starting Aug. 18, the city announced this week, though Canadian Pacific Railway is performing the work.

Traffic will be rerouted for the duration. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes, such as 23rd Street NW (Rotary Centennial Way).

Scam warning

The City of Medicine Hat’s utility department has reported that local customers may have been targeted by phone scammers attempting to obtain credit card information.

A statement Thursday morning states that city collections staff will never ask for customer’s credit card information over the phone.

Any such inquiries should be considered fraudulent. The customer should hang up immediately and contact the city directly at 403-529-8111.
