Seniors service awards will focus on COVID support

By Medicine Hat News on June 9, 2020.

The province is accepting nominations for the 2020 seniors service awards to recognize people who have invested time, energy and resources to help seniors during the pandemic.

Across Alberta, countless individuals and groups, including seniors themselves, have stepped up in new and innovative ways to ensure their friends, neighbours and community members have the supports they need during this difficult time. Owners and managers of stores had special hours for seniors to shop, some people made daily telephone calls to stay in touch with seniors, others dropped off groceries and prescriptions.

The deadline for nominations is Aug. 11. Details on the award categories and nomination process can be found at:

Award recipients will be publicly honoured in the fall.

Award nominations are for individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations for contributions to recognize volunteerism, philanthropy, innovation and outstanding service.
