The Farming Smarter group out of the Lethbridge area is hosting an event this week to share agricultural knowledge to those working in the industry.

The event is taking place Thursday at 211034 Hwy 512 just outside Lethbridge. There are 40 tickets available to see the event live, and other tickets open to purchase to view a live stream of the day’s happenings.

“The event is running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., people are able to attend the whole day or get tickets to specific parts,” said assistant manager Jamie Puchinger. “We have a host of speakers throughout the day, all of which will provide information on different aspects of agriculture.”

The speakers include Mark Oostlander, Tammy Jones, Brian Beres, Marla Riekman, Ken Coles, Lewis Baarda and Hector Carcamo.

Presentation topics include spraying water quality and volume, weeds, ultra early seeding, soil pit, deep banding/soil sampling and flea beetle management.

The in-person events have a maximum capacity of 40 people due to COVID-19 regulations. People who live far away can still purchase tickets and watch online.

“I think this is a great event for people in agriculture,” she said. “Anyone in the industry could learn something by attending this event.

“It’s really tailored to people who are out in the field.”
