Community Futures Entre-Corp offering no-interest loans for Western business

By Medicine Hat News on May 27, 2020.

Though the federal government has set up programs to help the economy through the global pandemic, not all rural businesses qualify.

With that in mind, Community Futures Entre-Corp is stepping up with no-interest loans of up to $40,000.

“As the impacts of COVID-19 continue to mount, more and more local businesses are falling through the cracks,” said Entre-Corp general manager Sean Blewett in a press release. “These urgent calls for support have reached across the province and our Western network, and we are pleased that the voices of local businesses have been heard.”

The money for the loans is part of Canada’s Regional Relief and Recovery Fund, which has allocated $95.7 million to businesses in Western Canada that don’t qualify for other programs.

No interest will be accrued on the loans until 2023, and up to one-quarter of the loan can be forgiven provided the rest is paid back by then.
