Two cases of COVID-19 have been admitted to local hospital

Medicine Hat Regional Hospital has admitted two patients with COVID-19, Alberta Health Services says.

There are 63 people in hospitals around the province and since the pandemic began a total of 149 people have been hospitalized.

Currently 15 are in ICU, and since the pandemic began a total of 40 have been treated in intensive care units across Alberta.

There are now 3,095 cases in Alberta (187 new), with 1,273 recovered. Sixty-one people have died, with two more announced Tuesday.

One more case was announced in Medicine Hat.

The largest surge of cases in the south zone is in Brooks with 157 cases (42 new on Tuesday). Medicine Hat has now had 16 COVID-19 positive cases but only six are still active with 10 already recovered.

As of Tuesday morning, Lethbridge city had 11 cases with three active, Cypress County eight cases with seven active. Both cases in Forty Mile and in Taber have recovered. Lethbridge county has one active case and there is one in County Newell that is active.

The south zone remains the zone with the lowest number of tests in the province. A total of 43 per cent of tests have been in Calgary, 33 per cent in Edmonton, nine per cent in central zone, eight per cent in the north and five per cent in the south zone. Two percent of tests have not yet been assigned to a particular zone, according to Alberta Health’s website.
