At this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, in Alberta 6.7 per cent of those who have tested positive are being hospitalized, according to the data released by Alberta Health on Wednesday.

The data says 2.2 per cent end up in ICU and 2 per cent die.

The majority of positive cases, 254, are in the 30 to 39 year age range. Those ranging in age from 50 to 59 years are next at 231 cases, those 40 to 49 years 228 cases and 20 to 29 years 206 cases.

At the bottom of the age bracket, those less than 12 months of age, there have been three cases. At the top age bracket, those more than 80 years old account for 82 cases, those 70 to 79 years 86 cases and 60 to 69 years 178 cases.

On a regional level: In Medicine Hat there are six active cases and four recovered, Cypress County two cases active, Forty Mile two cases active. Both cases in Taber have now recovered and in Lethbridge four cases are active with five recovered, according to data updated on April 8.

The number of COVID-19 tests in the south zone, effective April 8, was 3370. A week earlier that number was 2561.
