A total of 10 people in Alberta’s south zone, who had been positive for COVID-19, have now recovered.

Of the 22 cases in the zone announced Monday afternoon only 12 are active with the numbers by region as follows:

Medicine Hat has had 10 cases and six are still active.

Cypress County has one case and it is still active.

Taber has had two cases but one is recovered leaving only one still active.

County Forty Mile has two cases and they are both active.

Lethbridge has had seven cases but only two are currently active with five recovered.

A total of 3,171 tests for COVID have been done in the south zone, based on information released April 6.

Alberta Health Services recently expanded its testing criteria for COVID-19 and now includes those with symptoms in the following groups: group home and shelter workers, first responders, including firefighters, those involved in COVID-19 enforcement such as police, officers, bylaw, environmental health officers and fish and wildlife officers. It also includes correctional facility staff. Effective Tuesday this also applies to those over 65 years of age who have COVID-19 symptoms.

The procedure to get a test still requires either calling Health Link 811 or completing the online AHS test.

Once officials through Health Link or the online assessment tool determine that you need to be tested for COVID-19, they make arrangements with local health officials and will tell you where to go for the test.
