Bus fares are no longer required as city transit officials announced all riders will enter in rear, side entrances to avoid contact with drivers on Monday afternoon.
And starting April 6, a reduced schedule will see buses run on Saturday hours during the work week, then Sunday service throughout the weekend.
“We know many people are experiencing financial hardship… and we want to ensure they can continue to access Transit services,” said Gordon Dykstra, Superintendent of Transit Operations. “Rear-door entry … minimizes passenger interaction with our drivers and reduces the opportunity for virus transmission.”
The release also states that cleaning procedures on vehicles has been increased and April bus passes that have already been purchased will be honoured in the month after restrictions are lifted.
