Medicine Hat News The province announced that the number of cases of in the South Health zone rose on Thursday, and a total of 21 of the 486 confirmed cases of coronavirus are in hospital. Officials now estimate that one quarter of the province’s 8,500 will eventually be required to care for severe cases. That story is here. News health reporter Gillian Slade reports that no local hospitalizations due to the virus have yet been reported, and looks at how and when levels of self-isolation, quarantine and hospitalization may progress. Hatters pitch-in Vegetable grower and wholesaler Redhat Co-op met heavy demand over the last few weeks for fresh food delivery and is preparing to accept the first local crop of the season from its area greenhouses. High-tech Medicine Hat College is joining the cross-Canada effort to produce more medical-grade face shields using its 3D printers. Something bright Hatters who are staying home to help stop the spread of Covid-19 are decorating their windows, and getting creative, to keep busy and show solidarity. Learning time A virtual tour of a firehall in Medicine Hat on Tuesday morning was viewed 19,000 times by, no doubt a number of school kids in the Hat, but also people as far away as Oshawa, Ont. Helping out The Medicine Hat and District Food Bank has put out a public call for financial support and donations of a variety of items to meet increasing demand.
