When it comes to COVID-19 the South Zone is doing better than the rest of the province.

The South Zone, which includes Medicine Hat at Lethbridge, leads the province with the least percentage of COVID-19 cases at three per cent. Calgary has 62 per cent, Edmonton 23 per cent and the Central and North zones each have six per cent of the total number of cases, according to data provided by Alberta Health.

The total number of cases in Alberta on Tuesday was 301. Of that number, eight were in the south zone. Alberta Health has revealed three are in Lethbridge, two in Medicine Hat and one in Taber. The other two cases have not yet been attributed.

“This information is still being determined for two cases,” said a spokesperson for Alberta Health.

The total number of COVID tests carried out in Alberta stood at 29,757 according to Alberta Health’s data on Tuesday. Of that number 39 per cent were done in the Calgary Zone, 32 per cent in Edmonton, 11 per cent in the central zone, 10 per cent in the north zone, five per cent in the south and three per cent have not been assigned to a zone yet.

By far the majority of cases reported so far are still in the age bracket of 35 to 44 years old and most are males.
