Santa will be handing out candy canes to the children. Save on Foods is providing hot chocolate and cookies. To keep warm there will also be a bonfire, said Jenny Robinson. Robinson says Christmas she has always been special in her family and she wants to impart the same wonder of Christmas on to others. There are about 20,000 lights collected over the past six years or so, acquired from garage sales, advertisements on Facebook and the annual sales after Christmas. A computer-based program is used to sequence songs to the flashing of lights, broadcast through a FM transmitter. A specially made donation box will be on site. Robinson says all donations will be given to the Ronald McDonald House that will be opening in Medicine Hat in March 2020. Robinson has children who have had to go to Calgary for medical treatment and she says she understands the value and comfort of a Ronald McDonald House. “I’m so grateful we are getting one here,” said Robinson. 10
