First Street opens to traffic after months of repair work on water, sanitary lines

First Street SW is open to through traffic once again from Division Avenue heading west. After about five months of this section being closed to accommodate the repair and replacement of water and sanitary lines, the job is complete. New water and sanitary sewer mains will help to provide adequate fire protection and increased reliability services for customers, states a press release. Concrete curbs and gutters were also replaced, where required, and sidewalks were enhanced to support accessibility for wheelchair users. Minimal work will need to be completed in the spring of 2020, including completing driveway aprons, adding top lift asphalt and adding landscaping on the 100 and 200 blocks of First Street SW. 5-4
