Thousands passed through the stampede grounds this weekend for the annual Great West Home and Leisure Show that is put on by the Chamber of Commerce.

The show ran Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Cypress Centre with hundreds of vendors showing off their products and services.

“We produce these shows in order to connect consumers to businesses,” said trade show manager Chantelle Legault. “We’re here to support businesses and this show is just one of the ways we accomplish that.”

With the event showcasing so many different vendors, Legault says it is important to keep the event as Medicine Hat-minded as possible.

“We try to stay as local as we can,” said Legault. “We have 71 per cent of our vendors from Medicine Hat – 91 per cent is from Alberta.

“We want to be as local as possible because we’re here to support businesses and connect them with customers.”

Legault says the event annually attracts 7-9,000 people from Medicine Hat and surrounding areas.

“It’s a lot of people and we’re thankful for the Medicine Hat community,” she said. “People come out and support our show – a local show – every year. We wouldn’t be able to do it without the support.”

Vendor Dale Braun has set up shop at the show for four consecutive years and he says it is always a good one for his business, Easy Slice.

“It’s been great every year,” he said. “I have thousands of customers in this area and everyone is really loving their knives,” he said.
