Medalta is getting ready to host one of its biggest fundraisers of the year and it still has tickets on sale.
The Black and White Gala is taking place Oct. 19 and it makes up for a good portion of the group’s fundraising for the year.
“The Black and White Gala made up for seven per cent of our funding last year,” said marketing and communications co-ordinator Jessica Knodel. “This is a really fun night and it brings in a lot of important funds for us as an organization.”
The event kicks off with a champagne hour and live music, with live and silent auctions later in the evening featuring a number of unique items and experiences.
“Our auction items people bid on are very experience based,” said Knodel. “We pride ourselves on offering unique experiences and we like to offer things people can’t just get at the store.
“We offer different things every year so if people have been to the gala before, they’ll see new things to bid on.”
A few key auction items are the Policeman’s Dinner tickets, Medicine Hat Brew Co. name your own beer, a mural created by Jim Marshall, a stained glass painting class and more.
Medalta is selling tickets online this year at $125 each.
“This is the first time we’re doing this online,” she said. “We’re doing that online until Monday – then people need to call in and get them.
“There’s complimentary wine, good food and a lot of fun.”
Knodel says it’s a “creative black tie” affair, meaning people can be creative with their tuxedos and dresses.
