Big Brothers Big Sisters unveiled its new logo Wednesday as part of a nation-wide re-branding.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada is re-branding, revealing Wednesday a new logo, updated mandate and slogan.
Holly Stadnicki, executive director of the Medicine Hat chapter, told the News the new brand is based around the three most important actors in BBBS – the agency, the mentor, and the child and their family.
“Those three pillars are represented in our new logo and brand,” said Stadnicki. “The idea with the launch of our new brand is to ignite the potential in youth and get as many people behind Big Brothers Big Sisters as possible, and to help relay the message and encourage others to step forward and become mentors.”
The new brand, which was unveiled on national Big Brothers Big Sisters Day, also includes the slogan, “Bigger Together.”
She says the re-branding wasn’t a necessity, but the nation-wide group felt it was time to “freshen things up” with a “bold new look and focus.”
Stadnicki added that the mentoring relationship provided by BBBS has the potential to “change young people’s lives.”
“Potential exists in every child, yet many children and youth struggle with societal barriers and face adversities, such as poverty, family instability and identity-based discrimination,” Stadnicki said.
BBBS provides training and professional assistance to mentors so they can form a “strong positive relationship with their mentees that expresses care, challenges growth, shares power and expands possibilities,” she said, describing the re-branding as a sort of “call to action.”
“We’re asking everyone to join us to be part of something bigger, part of the collective,” said Stadnicki.
BBBS has had a Medicine Hat and area chapter since 1974.
