A local business has found a unique way to help support youth organizations.

The people at Crystal Metz Insurance, with the help of a number of community members and businesses, have created a colouring book and are offering it free to youth groups. The groups can then sell the books for $4 and keep all the money as profit.

“We’ve been working on this for a while and it’s nice to see it finally come to life,” said Metz. “I’ve always had colouring books here for people, and when our supplier disappeared we wanted to look at using the books as a way of community giving.

“When looking at our community giving budget, I didn’t want to only be able to help four or five organizations – these books allow us to help way more organizations.”

The colouring pages were created by local artist Cale Cooper and feature a number of the city’s most recognizable buildings and landmarks for people to colour.

“The book itself is really great,” said Metz. “We wanted it to be be for people to colour so we thought it would be right to have places everyone knows inside.”

Each page that needs colouring has an interesting fact on it and there’s also a crossword and a word search within the book. Metz says groups are able to order books online through her business’s website.

“It’s supply and demand,” she said. “We’ll help these youth groups reach their fundraising goals in whatever amount they need.

“We just ask they give us a rough timeline on when they think the books will be sold by and to keep in touch with us.”

The business is also selling the books at its front desk, with all money going to the BeYouth Centre.
