A near-two-hour-long power outage left 2,000 people in the Southlands neighbourhood and Redcliff without electricity Tuesday evening.

The City of Medicine Hat tweeted around 7:15 p.m. that it was “currently investigating the cause” of the outage.

Half an hour later, the city posted that it had restored power to Redcliff residents while crews continued to work on getting it back in the Hat.

By 8:30 p.m., the city tweeted that it had restored power to 300 out of 900 customers in Southlands.

And at 9:05 p.m., the city tweeted that power had been restored to all but 167 customers in Southlands.

They didn’t identify the outage’s cause by press time.
