Two-day art walk set to showcase myriad talents throughout downtown

Freshly blacked storefronts on South Railway Street announce that the "Mural Festival" will be held July 12 and 13 in downtown Medicine Hat.

Art Walk in Medicine Hat gets underway today with a variety of exhibitions, installations and activities over the two-day event.

The Esplanade is hosting a public reception for artists currently on exhibition on the gallery. That includes the multiple medium group show Terrestrial Beings as well as exhibits from the Hat Art Club and Medicine Hat Potters Association Biennial.

As well, the public is also invited to visit Susan Shantz’s exhibition Currents: river works-in-progress in the Ewart Duggan House. In the evening, the TREX space, at 516 Third St., will be launching Scraps by Calgary artist Geneva Haley.

On Saturday at 10:30 a.m., tours of Terrestrial Beings, will be follow by a tour of Currents: river works-in-progress by the artist, a Saskatoon-resident whose art is inspired by the South Saskatchewan River.

Another event, Mural Fest will see building walls in six locations around the downtown be adorned by spray paint artists over Friday and Saturday.
