Watershed alliance seeks dig volunteers

By Medicine Hat News on June 4, 2019.

The South East Alberta Watershed Alliance is looking for volunteers to dig out leafy spurge in the area.

A weed dig is scheduled for June 4 and 5 at Seven Persons Creek south of Township Road 104.

A noxious weed, leafy spurge is toxic to cattle.

If left unchecked the weed can spread and reduce available grazing areas.

It grows in fields and near bodies of water, and moving water can spread the weed.

As chemical control is prohibited near water bodies, dig outs are necessary.
