The Medicine Hat Santa Claus Fund got a bit of a boost Thursday when a local man decided to donate his April wages to the organization.

Arnold Tollefson is a driver for Big M Ford and donated more than $1,200 to the Santa Fund – the dealership heard about his act of kindness and matched his donation to the last penny, meaning the SCF was given $2,500 for the upcoming holiday season.

“I met one of the ladies from the Toy Run last fall and heard they were struggling a bit so I figured donating my wages from here would be a good way to help out,” he said. “It just seemed like a good cause.

“There’s people in the community that need help and I was able to give them a bit of help today.”

Santa Fund executive Deanna Doerksen says the donation will go a long way for the organization.

“The support from Arnold and Big M means a lot to us,” said Doerksen. “I think this is also a good reminder that what we do at the Santa Claus Fund is going on all year round and not just in the Holiday season.

“We’re out and about right now planning and working to make the upcoming giving season the best it can be.”

The Santa Fund is currently planning this fall’s Toy Run as well as the third annual Spirit of Giving Gala that will take place in December.
