Grossing more than a billion dollars worldwide in its opening weekend, the entire globe appears to be feeling Avengers: Endgame fever.
Medicine Hat is not immune.
The News spoke to Hatters who saw the movie and all enjoyed it, but differed on where they would rank it in the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kyle Bitschy has already seen Endgame in theatres twice.
He says he considers it to be in the top five of the 22 MCU movies and the second-best of the four Avengers movies.
“I was just a big fan of the resolution of the original six Avengers,” said Bitschy. “We haven’t really had a movie focused on them since the very first one.”
The original six Avengers are Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, though Bitschy says his favourite is Spider-Man because it takes him back to his childhood.
“I was six when the first Spider-Man movie was coming out. I remember seeing that in theatres,” he said. “It’s always been a big deal to me.”
Alain Gotanco saw Endgame in Calgary, where he happened to be on opening weekend. He says this is his favourite Marvel movie thus far.
“It explains all the Marvel movies,” he said. “They’re all connected to each other.”
Tre George, who saw Endgame opening night, says his favourite aspect of the Marvel movies is seeing which of the many comic books’ numerous storylines each movie follows.
“You don’t know which exact story arc they’re going with and to see how they pan out is kind of awesome,” said George.
He said he’d rank Endgame somewhere in the middle of the MCU repertoire.
George’s favourite is 2018’s Thor: Ragnarok, which he said he appreciates for its inside jokes for fans who’ve seen all the MCU films.
But Endgame was his favourite of the Avengers movies.
“The way they tied all the storylines together and how they ended it was very good,” George said, adding he wants to see it again in theatres “to pick up on anything I missed.”
“They always tend to hide something,” he said. “If you pay attention, the more you can find.”
