By medicinehatnews on April 23, 2019.

RCMP are investigating after number of Medicine Hat and Redcliff residents received calls from “spoofed” phone numbers overnight.

The Redcliff RCMP released a statement just before 1 a.m. on April 23, 2019 stating that its phone number has been spoofed, and Redcliff citizens who receive “prank” calls from 403-548-2222 should report it to 611.

The number that shows up on the caller ID of those phoned is the Redcliff RCMP Complaint Line.

The RCMP release advises that if a call is received from 403-548-2222 and nobody identifies themselves as an RCMP employee it is most likely that that it is prank call. RCMP further advise if you received a call from this number and no message was left from an RCMP employee assume the same.

RCMP has been in touch with Telus support and the investigation continues.

Citizens have reported to the News that strange calls have also come from 403-528-2222, 403-527-2222, 403-526-2222 and 403-504-2222 numbers and that one call was purported to be from the Medicine Hat Lodge.

RCMP has been getting irritated by such fake calls since long ago. Now they have decided to counter and investigate such callers so that they cannot tease them anymore and WeNumber provides 0800 number details at http://www.wenumber.co.uk/numbers/0800-numbers/ . Things are explained well on this blog page. Thanks for sharing this with us.
