A father and son duo have been arrested by ALERT Medicine Hat’s organized crime team as a result of a drug trafficking investigation. Police seized more than $26,000 in drugs and cash on April 10, the fruits of a six-week investigation. In total, they seized more than 250 grams of cocaine, 1.8 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of fentanyl and $850 in cash. Shane Hilmoe, 56, faces charges of trafficking a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possessing the proceeds of crime. His 23-year-old son, Nathan Hilmoe, is charged with six counts of trafficking and a single charge of possessing proceeds of crime. “Identifying and dismantling drug trafficking groups in and around Medicine Hat is our team’s top priority,” said ALERT Staff-Sgt. Cory Both in a news release. “Localized networks such as this help organized crime as a whole thrive.
