Police seized nearly $16,000 worth of methamphetamine and a small amount of fentanyl during a pair of traffic stops Wednesday.
The arrests are the result of an investigation that began earlier in the week after Medicine Hat Police Service’s Organized Crime Section received a tip from the public about suspected drug trafficking.
Dustin Ralph Stubbins, 31, and Alan Glebe, 54, both of Medicine Hat, were arrested after police seized a combined 263 grams of meth and 0.2 grams of fentanyl.
Stubbins faces a charge of possessing meth for the purposes of trafficking, while Glebe faces charges of meth and fentanyl possession.
“These recent arrests are a reminder to us all that methamphetamine and fentanyl still remain a prominent concern in our community,” said OCS Staff-Sgt. Cory Both. “The meth trade is often a catalyst to property crime and violent crimes and individuals addicted to meth often behave erratically, causing a safety concern for both members of the public and police officers.
“The MHPS is urging the public to report suspicious activity associated with drug trafficking, which includes:
• Vehicles or people coming and going at all hours of the day and night for brief periods of time;
• Individuals leaving a residence to go to a waiting vehicle or nearby location for a very brief period of time prior to returning to the home;
• Abandoned vehicles near the area in question, typically with some form of damage;
• Garbage, litter or discarded needles near the residence in question.
