A Medicine Hat family is hoping for a Christmas miracle with the return of wedding rings that were lost this week.

Audrey Baillie took off the rings she’s worn for 48 years while she was making Christmas decorations in the fibre arts guild room at the Cultural Centre.

They were snagging on fabric, so she slipped them in her pocket, but didn’t realize they had fallen out until later in the day and following a stop at the CIBC branch on Eighth Street in Crescent Heights.

“She’s beside herself,” said Baillie’s daughter Corrie Dale, who put out the information on social media and called the News. “They’re priceless for us, and we’re really hoping that someone has found them.”

Baillie and Dale have retraced her path, been in touch with the bank and Cultural Centre management.

The ring set, which has been soldered together, includes an engagement ring with stone and band in white and yellow gold.

Anyone with information should contact the Medicine Hat Police Service, which has a file open about the disappearance.

Jewelry stores in the city have also been notified.
