Delmas dangerous offender hearing scheduled for late June, early July

A dangerous offender hearing for a man convicted of six sex crimes in the past 11 years has been scheduled for the summer.

Michael Delmas, 35, appeared in Medicine Hat Provincial Court via closed-circuit TV on Thursday.

His most recent conviction occurred in June 2018, when he was found guilty of pinning a woman to the floor after she sat on the ground to avoid his advances.

The hearing is scheduled for June 27-28, July 2-5 and 8-12.

Accused trafficker pleads not guilty

Kaide Baynham, who faces three drug trafficking charges and one count of possessing proceeds of crime, pled not guilty.

Defence lawyer Lyndon Heidinger elected for a Court of Queen’s Bench trial.

A preliminary hearing to determine whether there’s sufficient evidence to go forward with the trial is scheduled for April 2.

Bail granted

A man facing a single charge of criminal harassment has been granted $300 cash bail.

Jason Friesen, who appeared in court via CCTV from the local jail, is prohibited from contacting the complainant as a condition of his release.

Friesen’s next appearance is Nov. 26.
