COALDALE —  Charges have been laid in a fatal crash on Highway 3 in June which police say involved a car driving on the wrong side of the highway.

A 62-year-old Lethbridge man is accused of impaired driving causing death on June 25 when a collision left a 42-year-old man from Standoff dead and sent a 12-year-old girl to hospital.

Charges were laid on Nov. 18.

Police stated at that time of the crash that emergency crews responded to a two vehicle crash on Highway 3, about two kilometres west of the Highway 509 junction.

They believe a white Toyota Corolla driven by the accused was headed east in the westbound lanes, and eventually struck a westbound Impala containing two the victims.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, and the girl sustained minor back injuries.

Douglas Bagnell faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death. The man is free on bail with the next court date set for Nov. 27 in Lethbridge.
