Medicine Hat College has announced a new dual credit welding program that allows high school students to get a head start on post-secondary education.

MHC’s apprenticeship welding program will be open to any student from the Medicine Hat Public School Division, Prairie Rose School Division or Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education.

Students will spend two full days each week at MHC, writing the first period welding apprenticeship certificate exam at the course’s conclusion.

“This is an excellent opportunity for students to experience hands-on learning in a college setting while earning credits to fulfill both high school and post-secondary requirements,” said Dennis Beaudoin, dean of trades and technology at MHC.

The program begins in October and registration is open.

High students should contact their school counsellor to register.
