A man who set off bear spray in an apartment complex on Victoria Day weekend was sentenced Monday to 225 days in jail, with 135 credited for time served.

Jamie Snow pled guilty to possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, for which he received the 135 days served and a firearm prohibition, as well as three counts of failure to comply with a probation order, for which he received 90 days custody and two years probation.

The 90 days will be served intermittently, with Snow reporting on weekends.

According to police, five people were sent to the hospital on May 18 after being exposed to bear spray on the third floor the complex located on the 700 block of 12 Street NE.

Snow reportedly called the Medicine Hat Police Service before the attack, telling them he was going to spray the building.

Police found him outside the building, where they arrested him without incident.

The accused also faced a charge of administering a noxious substance, which was stayed.
