The hard work and determination keeps paying off for Carlos Osterroth.

Osterroth is the manager of fleet services for the city of Medicine Hat and recently earned the Certified Automotive Fleet Manager designation, an esteemed honour in the fleet management industry, from NAFA Fleet Management Association.

“Being recognized is always a great feeling,” he said. “There’s a lot of competition in the field so being recognized at this level means a lot to me.

“I’ve stayed loyal to the city for some time now because they really gave me a start in this business and it’s a real privilege for me to be recognized like this.”

Fleet services are all of the mobile assets used for the city’s front line operations and the fleet services department does its job to support all of the other departments within the city.

Osterroth’s list of qualifications and certifications is too long to list but it includes bachelor’s and master’s degrees and years of work in the engineering field.

“We’ve done a lot of work over the years with the city and we’ve done some really great things here,” he said. “Before I moved for this job I was working with the Canadian Armed Forces doing very similar work and by trade I am a mechanical engineer.

“The strategy that I have implemented with the city is to take my areas of expertise and blend them together to make sure that the city has a sustainable asset management plan for the next 10 or so years.”

I understand how important and difficult it is to track the fleet, but this is the solution https://www.akveo.com/templates/fleet-management-dashboard they help simplify everything. This allows you to see where vehicles are located, adjust to traffic conditions, and receive updates and alerts about any issues related to your vehicle fleet. Depending on the data transmission functions, vehicle tracking can be active or passive. Passive tracking is a history of the location of a vehicle or tracking object. Real-time data on the whereabouts of the fleet allows active tracking.
