A man accused of trafficking methamphetamine while out on bail for other drug charges made a brief appearance at the Court of the Queen’s Bench in Medicine Hat on Friday.

Jason Claude Tremblay, 41, was supposed to enter a plea, but the matter was adjourned to Sept. 14, when he is expected to be arraigned.

The Crown opted to pursue these charges against Tremblay as indictable offences, meaning he could face significant jail time if found guilty.

Defence lawyer Greg White appeared as agent for Tremblay’s counsel of record, James Rouleau.

Tremblay is accused of drug trafficking, possession for purposes of trafficking, possessing property obtained through crime and failure to comply with a court order.

The accused is also scheduled to have a re-trial Dec. 17 for separate charges of possession for purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

These charges stem from an incident in 2014, when police seized from him $2,500 and more than 800 oxycodone pills containing fentanyl.

He was found not guilty of possession for the purposes of trafficking, which the Crown successfully appealed last year, leading the Court of Appeal to order a new trial.
