Construction work on city’s north side will force detours

Effective Tuesday the intersection at Division Avenue and Eighth Street NE will be closed for replacement of the water and sanitary mains.

Work is likely to continue until Sept. 21.

Due to the extensive nature of the work, traffic will be diverted to meet safety requirements.

Businesses on Eighth Street NW will remain open to traffic and can be accessed from the detour along Seventh Street to Tweed Avenue.

The intersection at Division Avenue and Eighth Street NE will be accessible as shown on the map.

Traffic accommodations are as follows:

— Eighth Street NE remains open at First Street.

— Eighth Street access from Second Avenue NE is not affected by this closure.

— Work adjacent to McCoy High School will be complete before the start of the school year.

Once the work in the Division Avenue intersection is complete, water and sanitary main replacement will continue along the Eighth Street NE residential area between Division Avenue and Second Avenue NE intersections.

Work will occur in one-block phases.
