A lone occupant has died after he was involved in a vehicle rollover in the morning hours of July 29.

The 23-year-old male from Maple Creek has not been named, but police confirm Maple Creek RCMP, fire department and EMS responded to a complaint of a single vehicle rollover on Old Highway 1 Road roughly four kilometres northwest of Maple Creek, Sask.

“It happened just outside of Maple Creek, and things are still under investigation,” said Sgt. John Phipps, Maple Creek detachment commander. “We are not at liberty to release the name at this time.”

He said at this time, neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor.

“We have collected evidence from the scene and it is being reviewed. A collision analyst was brought in from Swift Current,” he said.

Phipps says the incident likely happened between midnight and 4 a.m. Sunday, and well before it was reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
