A man arrested for drug trafficking and other related charges while out on bail had a brief preliminary hearing Monday at Medicine Hat Provincial Court.

Defence lawyer James Rouleau appeared on his behalf.

Jason Claude Tremblay will be tried by a judge at the Court of the Queen’s Bench on Aug. 10, where he is slated to enter a plea.

He is accused of drug trafficking, possession for purposes of trafficking, possessing property obtained through crime and failure to comply with a court order.

Tremblay is also scheduled to have a re-trial Dec. 17 for separate charges of possession for purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

These charges stem from an incident in 2014, when police seized from him more than 800 oxycodone pills containing fentanyl and $2,500.

He was found not guilty of possession for the purposes of trafficking, which the Crown successfully appealed.
