Military training exercises will begin today and last for more than a month at CFB Suffield as the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) conducts exercise Warrior’s Craft.

Base personnel advises people near the base may see weapons effects and hear loud noises day and night during this exercise, set to last until Aug. 7.

CFB Suffield Fire Services and the Range Control Field Operations System are prepared for potential fires on the range and in surrounding communities, a release states. Concerns are to be reported to Range Control at 403-544-4310. The release also asks people wanting to use the portion of the South Saskatchewan River that runs through the base to contact Range Control prior to doing so, as soldiers may also be using that portion of the river.

Lastly the release reminds that bombs, grenades and shells are not to be picked up or kept. Anyone who finds or has one is asked to contact the nearest police station.
