Methanex hosting Community Day June 14

Medicine Hat News Methanex is holding a Community Day open house June 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., where residents can take a tour and learn about various aspects of Methanex’s operation. For instance, they could learn that Methanex does not emit ‘smoke’ from its plant, as indicated erroneously in a reader-submitted weather photo that appeared on Page A4 on June 4. A Methanex spokesperson said the photo, taken last December, depicts warm water vapour that appears as a “cloud” when it comes in contact with cool air, which is why it is more predominant during the winter months. There are no clouds on warm days because the plant doesn’t emit “smoke,” the spokesperson said. 6-5
