Medicine Hat News Mounties are investigating a serious assault on May 23 in Duchess that sent a man to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Brooks RCMP report that they responded to a 911 call from a residence on Railway Avenue in the early morning Tuesday. Just before 2 a.m., it’s reported that two male suspects were attempting to steal a truck and when confronted by a bystander, assaulted the male. The two men then fled in a vehicle. RCMP arrived to find a 32-year-old male victim in medical distress and suffering from life threatening injuries. He was transported to a Calgary hospital where he is now deemed to be in stable condition. TheRCMP Major Crimes Unit, RCMPForensic Identification Unit, Brooks RCMP General Investigation Section, and several Brooks RCMP members have been engaged in the investigation. Extensive patrols were made to try to locate the vehicle, but it was not located. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
