Sunshine Skillet returns once again, continues to evolve

It wasn’t the event that people have grown to expect, but that wasn’t a bad thing during this year’s Sunshine Skillet.
Rather than having a head-to-head competition-style event, this year’s Sunshine Skillet was more laid back, and featured live demonstrations from an established chef.
“We’ve got chef Victor Hugo out today doing some great demonstrations for people who are attending the Farmers’ Market,” said organizer Jace Anderson. “In past years we held a mystery basket challenge live during the Farmers’ Market.
“This year the Canadian Food Championships are not taking place, so the winner of our event wouldn’t have anywhere to go. We’ve been talking about doing this for years, so we decided it was the perfect time to do a chef demonstration.”
Anderson says the event was expanded this year to offer more events outside of the chef demonstration.
“It’s actually been a really exciting year for us,” said Anderson. “This is the second year that we’ve offered the brewery tour, and we had a full bus for that.
“We’re also holding a greenhouse tour and a sunset dinner, both things we’re really looking forward to holding.”
