Medicine Hat’s healing expo is back at the end of the month.
Heal the Hat will run April 28 and 29 at the Cypress Centre Auditorium, and it will offer Hatters a place to seek alternative health remedies.
“We’ve gathered around 45 vendors from the city and the surrounding area,” said organizer Farren Assaly. “All of the vendors will offer a different product or service — things like massage, chiropractic, coaching — there will be a big variety of products and services.
“We want to offer people things they may not know are available in the city.”
Alongside the products, the expo will also offer a movement space.
“There’s going to be a mindful movement space, where people can actually come and try some things,” said Assaly. “There will be some yoga, meditation, things like that.
“It’s so you can come out and learn some things for free in a one-on-one setting.”
The event will showcase live music, door prizes, food from the Heartwood Cafe and a live drum circle.
“A community drum circle is basically a facilitator working with people with some African drums,” said Assaly. “We gather a bunch of people in a circle and drum — it’s exactly what it sounds like.
“It’s a way a lot of cultures have stayed connected over the years, working together to find those common rhythms.”
Assaly says the event is for anyone curious about alternate healing.
“I think there’s something for just about anyone at the event,” she said. “It’s a great event for people who are looking for some alternatives, or maybe looking to connect deeper in their community.
“We also have a kids’ zone that will be open, so there really is a lot offered.”
Admission is $5 for the day, or $8 for both days.
