The Medicine Hat Police Service is still investigating a firearms complaint from Thursday evening.

Members of the MHPS were called to the area of Northlands Lane NE after a firearm was shot at a home.

The suspect fled the scene in what looked to be an Audi.

“I can confirm that the major crimes unit is still actively investigating this file involving the firearms offence,” Staff Sgt. Kelsey Fraser said Sunday evening. “I know this is a priority file for that section, and they’re going to conduct more interviews and do more forensic work — that’s all I know right now.”

As for the major crimes unit, Fraser says it handles multiple high-priority cases at a time.

“They have multiple files at any given time,” he said. “I know they have officers teamed up to work on different files, and I know they multi-task files each and every day.”
