The Medicine Hat Police Service’s explosive disposal unit was called downtown Saturday afternoon to inspect a suspicious package at the Scotiabank.
After a few hours of blocking off a few streets, the police cleared the area.
“It looks like it was just a bag of odds and ends,” said the on-duty staff sergeant. “We’re not sure exactly what the stuff is right now, or who owns it, but it might have just been some stuff people threw in a dumpster.”
Police had asked people to avoid the area of downtown, but traffic and walkways are now open to everyone.
