Medicine Hat News It was a big night Friday for Brost Developments at the eighth annual Canadian Homebuilders Awards, with the local company named both builder of the year and renovator of the year. In total, 14 companies were nominated in 20 categories detailing the best in home design, construction and finishes. More than 150 attended the ceremony at the Medicine Hat Lodge. Brost was also honoured as having the best single-family home priced in the $300,000 to $400,000 price range, best estate home ($600,000 to $800,000), best ensuite and greenest builder. In renovation categories, Brost won two awards for projects under $200,000 and then up to $300,000 in price. Kenco Construction took home renovator in highest budget category (exceeding $300,000), and won for best estate home priced above $800,000, as well as best kitchen. Lacey Homes was another multiple winner, including the parade of homes community choice award, voted on by the general public after last year’s new home showcase. Lacey also earned awards for single-family home construction at different ends of the price range, taking home hardware for homes priced under $300,000 and above $500,000. New Rock Developments was tagged as having the best multi-family home. The award for best detached house priced $400,000 to $500,000 went to Jasper Homes. Mulder Builders had the top small renovation entry (budget less than $100,000). In supplier categories, Inland Concrete (structural) and Design Kitchens and Countertops (non-structural) took home top awards. Design Kitchens was also named the top trades supplier. Among service awards, Global Raymac Surveys and law firm Stringham won awards. The local Homebuilders association also honoured the work of two Medicine Hat college students, Todd Ullrichsen and Jason Batsel, for their design work. 15
