Medicine Hat News Brooks RCMP dealt with three collisions involving seven semi tractor trailers Friday morning due to heavy fog on the Trans-Canada Highway. One crash resulted in 20 cattle being killed or euthanized and left other animals milling about on the highway. A release from the Brooks detachment stated the TCH west of that city was reduced to one westbound lane for several hours. At that site, near the Highway 36 junction, three semi trucks, including an empty tanker, empty cattle hauler and a truck hauling bales collided, sending one person to hospital. A second collision at the Trans-Canada and Range Road 150, saw a loaded cattle liner struck by two other tractor trailers. Three people were sent to hospital with non-threatening injuries. Later a passenger vehicle and a semi collided on the outskirts of Brooks, though police describe that event as minor. Heavy fog in the area greatly reduced visibility at the time of the collisions. 10
