The annual Sunshine Home and Garden Show is now underway at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede, running through Sunday.

“We have over 200 exhibitors at the Cypress Centre for three days, and we’re expecting around 11,000 consumers this weekend,” said trade show manager Paula Stodalka. “This is our largest show and we’ve been doing them for a number of years, so this is something we look forward to every year.”

The event showcases a wide range of businesses, with the Home and Garden show specializing in summer goods.

“At this show, what makes it unique is our outdoor living section,” said Stodalka. “People who are getting that spring fever can maybe come out and start to think about their next landscaping project. The landscapers have some really great displays they’ve been setting up all week, and they’re setting up things you would see in peoples’ backyards. We also have a home centre, which focuses on everything home-related.”

The event has a kids zone in the back of the Cypress Centre, which features a bouncy castle, face painting and a place to eat.

There is multiple food stands at the event, something Stodalka says draws a large crowd.

“Food alley is something people look forward to every year. There’s a lot of really good options for people to try out.”

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, kids 11-and-under get in for free and military and veterans get in for free as well.
