AHS named one of the province’s top-70 employers

Medicine Hat News Alberta Health Services is listed as one of Alberta’s Top 70 employers, the organization announced Wednesday. AHS is also one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People, and in November was reported to be one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2018. “These awards capture the outcomes we’d envisioned when we implemented Our People Strategy workforce safety and engagement strategy,” AHS president and CEO Dr. Verna Yiu said in a press release. “Through the actions and dedication of so many, we’ve been able to create a values-based workplace where people feel safe, healthy, valued and included, and able to reach their full potential.” Canada’s Top 100 Employers recognizes companies/organizations that offer exceptional workplaces for employees nationally, provincially and in specialty categories, such as young people. “I am so proud of our people for making AHS such a great place to work — one person and one interaction at a time,” said Yiu. “I am honoured to lead this great organization.” AHS scored top marks in many categories, including the establishment of a diversity and inclusion council along with its efforts to facilitate work placements for new Canadians and persons with intellectual disabilities. AHS employs more than 130,000 people in hospitals, clinics, urgent care centres, continuing care facilities and communities across the province, according to a press release. 10-9
