Medicine Hat News Today’s Elkwater Winter Festival promises fun for the whole family. The fourth annual event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and, best of all, everything is free. Some of the events include shoeshoeing, horse-driven sleigh rides, a chain saw demonstration, coss-country ski lessons, loop skating, a snowman-building contest, cookie decorating, a snow graffiti wall, snow golf and face painting. A craft market will also be on site, with a variety of vendors displaying and selling their wares. Participants won’t go hungry, either. There will be popcorn, juice, hot chocolate, hot dogs and marshmellows roasted over a bonfire. The Learning Centre at Elkwater will be primary headquarters for the festival, but other venues include the Elkwater Community Hall, the Elkwater Lake Lodge and the 12-34 Cafe. Further information is available from Connie Matson, 403-504-3202. 9
