Local elementaries put on ‘hold and secure’ for brief period Thursday

St Patrick’s School and Notre Dame Academy were briefly on “hold and secure” status Thursday.

Medicine Hat Police Service state that at 2 p.m. on Feb. 1, they received a report of a potential safety concern regarding specific students that attend St Patrick’s School and Notre Dame Academy. As a result both schools were placed in a brief “Hold and Secure” procedures from 2:15-2:45 p.m.

Once officers investigated, they were able to determine the concern was unwarranted and the Hold and Secure was lifted.

Police say there is no further risk to the community and no further information will be released.
