The scheduled Kiwanis Military Tattoo planned for May 5 at the Canalta Centre has been postponed.

The committee organizing the event said in a news release the postponement was due to “circumstances beyond our control.”

“Many of the pipe and drum and military bands were not available because of prior commitments this year,” the press release said. The committee is now looking at a potential date in May or June 2019 and is currently working with the bands to secure their participation at that time.

All tickets purchased up to Jan. 31 will be refunded through the original point of purchase.

Net proceeds from the event were earmarked for the vein viewer for the neo-natal department of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, and the Tattoo committee said the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation has been informed of the postponement and said it hopes the vein viewer will continue to be the choice of net proceeds raised in 2019.

The Kiwanis Military Tattoo Committee will continue working and planning for a date and location that will allow both local and provincial groups to participate, the news release said. “A military tattoo is an exciting presentation and the committee wishes to present a show that is both dynamic and informative for all.”

Further information on the 2019 Kiwanis Military Tattoo will be released over the course of the year.
