Man arrested after making general threats

Shane Merkl, 25, has been arrested by the Medicine Hat Police Service after making general threats through a very long message to the Medicine Hat News.

Merkl sent a message to the News’ Facebook Saturday morning that was not directed to a specific person or organization, and can be best described as general comments regarding the writer’s feelings and beliefs.

Merkl has been charged with uttering threats and three counts of public mischief, according to the MHPS.
