Medicine Hat News

Medicine Hat area businesses have until Feb. 9 to submit applications for Summer Temporary Employment Program funding. STEP empowers local employers to hire summer students, and receive up to $7 per hour in wage supplements from the provincial government.

Those businesses eligible for the subsidy can have anywhere from four to 16 weeks of coverage in the program from May until August, and up to 37.5 hours per week per STEP employee.

Summer positions created through STEP provide students with the opportunity to build meaningful work experience, increase their skills and workplace insight and help prepare them for the future.

For more information on the program, and to download an application form, visit the Alberta-Canada website at http://www.albertacanada.com/employers/recruit/summer-temporary-employment-program.aspx
